Daniele Morandini - Principal Trombone of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Faculty of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala
Born in Siena in 1983, started studying trombone at the age of 11 with Mr. Marco Piattelli and then with the late Mr. Walter Carpano. After graduating in Siena with Mr. Mauro Bianchi he continued his studies with Mr. Andrea Conti and Mr. Andrea Bandini at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève, where he received his bachelor degree.
Second trombone of the Teatro Carlo Felice opera house in Genova from 2004 to 2006. Principal Trombone of The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra from 2006 to 2011. During the 2011-12 season he has been invited to play as Acting Associate Principal Trombone with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
Principal Trombone of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Filarmonica della Scala
since September 2012. Member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra since 2016. In 2010, during the opening of the 75th season of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, he has world premiered under the baton of Zubin Mehta, Moshe Zorman’s “Trombone Odyssey” trombone concerto. In the same year he apperaed as soloist with The Israel Chamber Orchestra performing the J. G. Albrechstberger concerto for trombone and strings.
Daniele currently teaches at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala and has been the trombone Professor at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and at the The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in the Tel-Aviv University for 4 years.
Besides his regular teaching he has been giving many masterclasses and recitals around Europe, Chile, Brasil, China, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Israel, the USA, Russia and Australia. He is a founding member of the Teatro alla Scala Brass 5et.
