Jing Zheng, originally from Beijing, has played with the Houston Symphony as Principal of the Second violin since 2015.
She earned her Master of Music degree on a full scholarship under Kathleen Winkler at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University as a recipient of Dr. Mischa Caplan Endowed Scholarship. Jing also holds a Bachelor of Music degree on a full scholarship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she was a student of Ian Swensen as a recipient of the Walter & Elise Haas Scholarship. Her principal teachers include William van der Sloot, and Lin Yao Ji.
Jing is a prizewinner of the Shean competition, Berkley Piano Club, and concerto competition at SFCM. She has performed as a soloist with several orchestras including Calgary Philharmonic.
Jing has had the privilege to work with Ron Leonard, Laurence Lesser, Cho Liang-Lin, Desmond Hoebig, James Ehnes, Pierre Amoyal, Pamela Frank, Donald Weilerstein, Pinchas Zukerman, and members of the Diaz Trio and Concord Quartet.
